Search continues for missing fishing boat off the coast of Huelva

The search continues today, Monday December 6, for an octopus fishing boat and its crew missing since last Friday 3. The maritime rescue services are looking off the coast of Isla Cristina, in the province of Huelva.

As reported to EFE, the rescue ship SAR Malestero operated through the night, accompanied by a Helimer 202 helicopter. These emergency services were in action throughout the weekend of Saturday. An emergency signal is transmitted by VHF to all other vessels navigating in the Gulf of Cadiz, in the hope that one of them will spot the missing boat.

This rescue operation was launched around 1 p.m. on Saturday 4, after the Guardia Civil received a call informing them of the possible disappearance. They in turn contacted the rescue services of Maritime Rescue.

One of the women on the fishing boat had called to report that her husband had not returned after they left around noon last Friday. It is believed that there are two crew members aboard the ship, as reported
